Died aged 20 on HMS Sepoy in Hong Kong Harbour . Six Royal Navy gunners died accidentally during an exercise when a live round returned onto the gun. He had previously met his brother Edward 'Ted' also on shore leave in Hongkong but from another ship. Ted and other sailors pulled the gun carriage bearing the coffin before the burial at Happy Valley cemetery with other casualties.
